Physical examination

Within the scope of the physical examination (blood pressure and pulse measurement, lung auscultation, etc.) the patient should also be carefully palpated for enlarged lymph nodes. This is essential if a malignant lymphoma is suspected. In addition, it is very important to manually examine liver and spleen because these organs are frequently (also) affected by Hodgkin lymphoma and therefore enlarged (hepatosplenomegaly). In order to determine the stage of disease (staging), it is just as essential to examine the laboratory parameters of the blood.
