Overview

Main trials

HD1 (for early, intermediate and advanced stages respectively)

In the HD1 trial (for stage IA to IIIA with RF), two radiotherapy concepts were compared to each other (2 x COPP/ABVD + 40 Gy EF vs. 2 x COPP/ABVD + 20 Gy EF + 20 Gy on bulk).

HD2 (for early, intermediate and advanced stages respectively)

In the HD2 trial (for stage IIIA without RF), radiotherapy alone with 40 Gy TNI was compared to 3 x COPP/ABVD + radiotherapy (20 Gy IF + 40 Gy on residual tumor).

HD3 (for early, intermediate and advanced stages respectively)

In the HD3 trial (for stage IIIB, IV), different therapeutic strategies were compared depending on the treatment response after 3 x COPP/ABVD. In case of a complete remission (CR), radiotherapy (20 Gy IF) was compared to another cycle of COPP/ABVD. If no CR was present, either radiotherapy (in case of nodular involvement, 20 Gy IF + 40 Gy on residual tumor) or chemotherapy (in case of disseminated involvement, 4 x CEVD) were administered.

HD4

In the HD4 trial, two radiotherapy concepts were compared to each other (40 Gy EF vs. 30 Gy EF + 10 Gy IF).

HD5 (for intermediate stages)

In the HD5 trial (for stage I, II with RF, stage IIIA), 2 x COPP/ABVD were compared to 2 x COPP/ABV/IMEP. Subsequently, patients were irradiated with 30 Gy EF (10 Gy on bulk).

HD6 (for advanced stages)

In the HD6 trial (for stage IIIB, IV), 4 x COPP/ABVD were compared to 4 x COPP/ABV/IMEP. Subsequently, patients were irradiated with 30 Gy (on bulk) or 40 Gy (on residual tumor).

HD7 (for early stages)

In the HD7 trial (for stage I, II without RF), 2 x ABVD + 30 Gy EF + 10 Gy IF were compared to radiotherapy alone (30 Gy EF + 10 Gy IF).
(Publication of the HD7 study

HD8 (for intermediate stages)

In the HD8 trial, two radiotherapy concepts were compared to each other. After 2 x COPP/ABVD patients either received 30 Gy EF (10 Gy on bulk) or 30 Gy IF (10 Gy on bulk).
(Publication of the HD8 study

HD9 (for advanced stages)

In the HD9 trial, 4 x COPP/ABVD, 8 x baseline BEACOPP and 8 x escalated BEACOPP were compared to each other. After chemotherapy, patients received radiotherapy where appropriate (30 Gy on bulk, 40 Gy on residual tumor).
(Publication of the HD9 study

HD10 (for early stages)

In the HD10 trial, two different chemotherapies (4 x ABVD vs. 2 x ABVD) and two radiotherapy concepts (30 Gy IF vs. 20 Gy IF) were compared to each other.
(Publication of the HD10 study

HD11 (for intermediate stages)

In the HD11 trial, two different chemotherapies (4 x ABVD vs. 4 x baseline BEACOPP) and two radiotherapy concepts (30 Gy IF vs. 20 Gy IF) were compared to each other.
(Publication of the HD11 study

HD12 (for advanced stages)

In the HD12 trial, two different chemotherapies (8 x escalated BEACOPP vs. 4 x escalated BEACOPP + 4 x baseline BEACOPP) were compared to each other and in addition, no radiotherapy was compared to radiotherapy with 30 Gy on bulk + 30 Gy on residual tumor.

HD13 (for early stages)

In the HD13 trial, two cycles of either ABVD, ABV, AVD or AV, followed by radiotherapy with 30 Gy IF were compared to each other.

HD14 (for intermediate stages)

In the HD14 trial, 4 x of ABVD + 30 Gy IF-RT were compared to 2 x escalated BEACOPP + 2 x ABVD + 30 Gy IF-RT.

HD15 (for advanced stages)

In the HD15 trial, 8 x escalated BEACOPP were compared to 6 x escalated BEACOPP and to 8 x BEACOPP 14. After completion of chemotherapy, a PET examination was performed and PET-positive residual tumor tissues larger than 2.5 cm were irradiated.

Relapse trials

E2301

This phase III trial for patients with an increased risk of relapse and a complete remission after autologous stem cell transplantation (SCT) investigated whether patients receiving a panobinostat maintenance therapy after SCT experienced a longer event-free survival than patients receiving placebo.

HD-R1

The HD-R1 investigated whether patients with relapsed Hodgkin lymphoma benefit from high-dose chemotherapy and subsequent autologous stem cell transplantation compared to standard chemotherapeutic treatment (4x DexaBEAM vs. 2x DexaBEAM plus BEAM und SCT).

HD-R2

The HD-R2 trial investigated whether patients with relapsed Hodgkin lymphoma benefit from an intensified chemotherapeutic treatment before autologous stem cell transplantation (2x DHAP plus BEAM and SCT vs. 2x DHAP plus single HDCT plus BEAM and SCT).

Other phase I/II trials
